Work

Tiong Bahru Hawker Centre

The project focuses on redesigning Tiong Bahru Hawker Centre concerning its hawker culture and the collective memories of the estate. The design aims to cultivate interest and awareness in hawker culture to ensure its continuity as Singapore's living heritage instead of a fading trade. Through the open stalls, users can observe the making of food. Elements from Tiong Bahru estate – such as micro-community spaces, green spaces, voids, and communal spaces – are inserted to create a sense of place. The incorporation of farms allows people to understand the food process and appreciate the food culture.
