Born and raised in Singapore, Valerie Ang writes historical fiction and poetry. Her work has been featured in Speculative Nonfiction, The Ekphrastic Review, and Southeast Asian Review of English. She loves nemeses, masquerades, and trickster protagonists, and her best friend is a three-foot stuffed whale.

Thesis work

Hostis, a historical novel-in-progress set in Ancient Rome that follows the slow evolution of an enemies-to-lovers relationship between two generals on opposite sides of a brutal war.
