Gerrie was a former teacher and a librarian who has worked for over ten years at the National University of Singapore. Passionate about heritage, she spends her spare time walking around Singapore looking at old buildings along random streets and wondering about the people who had lived or worked in them.

Thesis work

This Night of Small Things is a site-specific play set in a now defunct Bukit Brown cemetery in Singapore. Weaving together five stories, the play examines the notion of sacrifice and asks the question - besides the rich, male Chinese pioneers buried there, who are some of the others worthy of remembrance in the narrative of Bukit Brown.
